Taylor Hagler Takes IMSA TCR Championship Lead to Road America
Coming off her first IMSA win, Taylor Hagler will return to IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) competition at Road America this weekend to continue her TCR championship hunt in the Road America 120 on Saturday, August 7th (TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold, 5:35 PM ET).
Paired with Michael Lewis in the No. 77 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Veloster N TCR, the duo have demonstrated speed and consistency in the ultra-competitive class through the first half of the 2021 IMPC season. Of the first six races thus far, the pair have finished in the top four every time out, including five podium results including the big Lime Rock Park victory.
Hagler and Lewis reclaimed the TCR Driver’s Championship at Watkins Glen International and currently lead the chase by 250 points heading into the race weekend at Road America. The No. 77 Hyundai also leads the TCR Team Championship with four races remaining in the 2021 season.
In just her 15th IMSA race, Hagler claimed her first win during the previous IMPC round at Lime Rock Park. By claiming the top step of the podium, Hagler became just the fourth woman to win a race in IMPC competition.
Hagler will look to continue to make history as she will make her fourth start at the 4.0-mile course on Saturday.
“Getting my first professional win was a career highlight, but the focus remains on the championship,” said Hagler. “Each outing is pivotal to earning points and we know that with the BHA team behind us we have the car and capability to win each weekend. Road America is a fun track to drive and the Hyundai Veloster N TCR will perform well especially in the faster sections of the course. Michael (Lewis) and I are in a great position, but it is up to us to continue this success.”
Hagler will look to collect her second win in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge when the Road America 120 goes green on Saturday, August 7th at 5:35 PM ET with live coverage available on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.
