Taylor Hagler Seeks Redemption at Road Atlanta
Taylor Hagler will return to her No. 77 L.A. Honda World Honda Civic Type R TCR at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this weekend.
The young American racer will contest the VP Racing Stay Frosty 240, the second and final endurance event of the 2020 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season on Sunday (TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold, 12:05PM ET).
The visit to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is one that Hager has been looking forward to, having been the site of early success for the Honda development driver as she collected her first ever racing win at the track in 2018 in SCCA Spec Miata competition.
The Texas native was back at the 2.54-mile track in June for the inaugural round of the HPD GT3 Driver Academy. Hagler made her debut onboard the Acura NSX GT3 Evo and received high praise from experienced Acura instructors.
Hagler will once again be joined by full-season L.A. Honda World teammate Ryan Eversley. Road Atlanta serves as his home track and is also the track where the co-driving duo first met.
“Taylor (Hagler) knows Road Atlanta very well,” said Eversley. “She got up to speed at the first test session I worked with her at and thoroughly impressed me. Behind the wheel of the Acura NSX GT3, she quickly matched the lap times that Dane (Cameron, Penske DPi driver) was setting. Her confidence around Road Atlanta will help us make the most of the weekend.”
The duo are hoping to get back on track in the IMPC championship after getting caught up in another competitor’s incident at the previous round at VIR that ended their race early.
“Ryan (Eversley) and I are both determined to turn our season around with a strong result,” said Hagler. “I am looking forward to getting back to Road Atlanta. It is a track that I know well and am very comfortable around. I was there just recently for the HPD GT3 Driver Academy and learned so much about the course as well as how to utilize the track better.”
The four-hour VP Racing Stay Frosty 240 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta will go green Sunday, September 6th at 12:10PM ET. Live flag-to-flag coverage will be available on TrackPass on NBC Sports Gold.
