The summer swing of the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season concludes as the Virginia is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix at VIRginia International Raceway marked the eighth round on the schedule. Taylor Hagler finished the race weekend in Southern Virginia with a sixth place finish aboard the No. 77 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR alongside Bryson Morris. Saturday at VIR began early as Morris climbed aboard the No. 77 Hyundai for qualifying duties. Morris set a flying lap of 1:55.230-seconds to claim the top spot on the starting grid. The pole position is the first for Hagler and Morris as teammates and their best starting position of the 2024 season. Leading the TCR field to the green flag, Morris was quick to begin pulling away from competitors behind. He clicked off lap after lap with clean, consistent racing with a 15-second lead to second and running second overall when at the one hour, three-minute remaining mark, the first full course caution appeared. Utilizing the yellow flag conditions, the No. 77 Hyundai came to pit lane from the lead for a driver change to Hagler, four new Michelin tires and a full tank of fuel. Quick work by the BHA crew set Hagler up to return to the course in third. After just two green flag laps, the yellow flag reappeared with 46-minutes remaining on the race clock. With the field packed up, the GS and TCR classes returned to race pace on Lap 36 with a shuffling of position through the opening corners. The door-to-door racing placed Hagler in sixth place as the No. 77 Hyundai entered the infamous VIR Essess. Hagler pushed through the final 16 laps to cross the finish line in sixth. Hagler will shift focus as she heads back to Europe to resume her ADAC GT Masters campaign at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with GRT Grasser Racing Team.
