Hagler Carries Championship Lead to Mid-Ohio
Taylor Hagler will continue her 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) campaign this weekend as she heads back across the country for the Mid-Ohio 120 on Saturday, May 14 (4:00pm ET, Peacock).
Leading the 2022 IMPC championship by 30 points, Taylor Hagler and her Hyundai co-driver Michael Lewis will combine in the No. 1 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR at the 2.258-mile Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the fourth round of the 2022 IMSA season.
Having just scored a top five finish at Hyundai’s home event at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca two weeks ago, Hagler is eager to head back to Mid-Ohio – a track that has been a highlight for the Texas native through her young career.
In 2020, Hagler raced to a second place podium finish in race 1 at the track, and backed that up by earning her first-ever IMSA career pole position for the second race of the weekend.
During the 2021 IMPC championship season, Hagler raced to the podium again at Mid-Ohio with a second place finish with Lewis in the No. 77 Hyundai Veloster N TCR.
“I’m excited to be going back to Mid-Ohio, especially with how we performed there last year,” said Hagler. “The Elantra has been running great this year, and I want to continue with what Michael (Lewis) and I have set out to accomplish this season. We aren’t sure what the weather will bring, but we’ve had a good record there with our Hyundais and hopefully we can continue that this weekend.”
The No. 1 Elantra will sport a special addition to the car for Project K9 Hero, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and well-being of retried Military Working Dogs and Police K-9 Heroes. The decal was added at Laguna Seca, and Hagler looks forward to this partnership to support Project K9 Hero’s purpose of ensuring a better life for these dedicated animals while educating the public on the responsibilities of caring for retired K-9 Heroes.
The compact weekend will begin Friday with two practices and qualifying (5:50pm ET) followed by the Mid-Ohio 120 on Saturday (4:00pm ET, Peacock).
